The Arrest of Jesus vs the Arrest of Paul

The story of Paul’s final arrest begins in Acts 21. There are some very interesting parallels between his arrest and Jesus’ arrest.

Imitate Paul as he imitated Jesus

Enjoy:

Jesus -> His ministry was to suffer and die for the glory of God (Phil 2:6-11)
Paul -> “I will show him how much he must suffer for My name’s sake” (Acts 9:16)

Jesus -> Set himself to go to Jerusalem for Passover (Luke 9:51-53)
Paul -> Set himself to go to Jerusalem for Pentecost (Acts 20:16)

Jesus -> Told His disciples several times He would go to Jerusalem, be put before the high priest, suffer and die (Matt 17:22-23; Matt 20:18-19; Matt 26:1-4)
Paul -> Told by His friends several times that if he went to Jerusalem, he would be bound and suffer (Acts 20:23-24; Acts 21:4; Acts 21:10-11)

Jesus -> Grilled by Pharisees, Sadducees, and high priest (Matt 21:23; Matt 22:15-33)
Paul -> Grilled by Pharisees, Sadducees, and high priest (Acts 23:1-10)

Jesus -> Ministered to by angels in His darkest hour (Luke 22:43)
Paul -> Ministered to by the Lord in His darkest hour (Acts 23:11)

Jesus -> Bound and brought before Roman governor Pilate (Matt 27:2)
Paul -> Bound and brought before Roman governor Felix (Acts 23:24)

Jesus -> Protected by 12 legions of angels in the presence of the Roman governor (Matt 26:53)
Paul -> Protected by 470 Roman soldiers to be sent to the presence of the Roman governor (Acts 23:23-24)

Jesus -> Crucified by order of the Roman governor (Matt 27:26)
Paul -> Beheaded by order of the Roman, Nero.

Conclusion

Paul says [+] Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. (1Cor 11:1)
