When things are new, the Bible lays out a peculiar set of similarities:
First Time
Everything is new
Adam and Eve tempted in a garden
They ate forbidden fruit
They were naked and ashamed
A curse fell upon man and his offspring
Second Time
Everything was renewed
Noah planted a garden
He drank of the wine
He was naked and ashamed
A curse fell upon his son and his offspring
Third Time’s The Charm
“Behold – I make all things new”
Jesus prayed in the garden
He drank of the wine (and the cup)
He knew not sin; He took on our shame
New life fell upon His sons and sons’ sons
Oh yeah — and then there’s that crazy part about the naked man running around in the garden!!
[While Jesus was being arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane], a certain young man, having a linen cloth wrapped around his naked body, was following Him. They caught hold of him, but he left the linen cloth behind and ran away naked. (Mark 14:51-52)
Go figure!
